About us

Our commitee is made up of Samantha Rouse, Katy Lloyd and Deborah Lloyd - parents who started Sparrows in 2018 because we know how hard it can be to find safe, understanding spaces for our children and how lonely it can feel for us and our children. With our amazing volunteers, we support families across South East Wales through welcoming events and one-to-one support.

Together we fly - when families lift each other, children soar. No child should miss out because access is hard.

What we do

We run exclusive-hire sessions so families can relax without judgement - soft plays, climbing, trampolining, outdoor adventures, farm visits, coffee mornings and guest speakers. We do our best to make simple adaptions so children can join in comfortably.

Who our events are for

Our sessions are open to children with a wide range of disabilities. Many of our children are neurodivergent or under assessment, and lots have other comorbidities too. Siblings are always welcome. Not every venue is fully accessible for restricted mobility, so if you message us we will explain which locations are suitable and any barriers you might encounter.

Why you can trust us

Sparrows is a charitable community interest group - voluntary and non-profit - and any funds go straight back into supporting families. We have collaborated with respected organisations such as St John Ambulance GAVO, and The National Lottery alongside many caring local providers. We complete risk assessments for our sessions and follow safeguarding best practice.
